Description:
It's 6 P.M. and a Southern Railway yard crew has just delivered train No. 54 to the KCS at Labarre Road in Metairie. The train originated at the L&N's Gentilly Yard, and the Southern handled it from L&N Jct. to here. The Southern crew will get on KCS No. 55, which is right behind the photographer, and bring it to their Oliver Yard. Today's 54 has GP40-2 797, F7B slug 4076, and GP38-2 4002 with 112 cars and 5,895 tons.

Description:
Kansas City Southern GP40-2 797 was at
WEST YARD
, just outside of New Orleans, and was showing off the custom headlight treatment that it, sister 796 and SD50 units 704-713 were delivered with. The upper light was a strobe and was eventually removed. These units also had strobe lights on their cab roof.
