Description:
A southbound BN train on the Ft Scott Sub rolls out of Kansas City, through Olathe. At Paola, the shared track with MKT will end, each road going its own way, BN toward Springfiled MO and Tuosa, MKT toward Muskogee and Texas. At the time, there was only I 35, the tracks, and a local road that ran along through Lenexa and Olathe. Its changed in 30 years!

Description:
Burlington Northern Railroad B30-7AB 4057 at Clyde, Illinois on September 27, 1986, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. This locomotive was built in August 1983 (c/n 44415), and it represents a Phase II design in the B30-7AB concept. The box on the roof just behind where the cab would be is the dynamic brake resistor grid. On the earlier version, the grid was located in the usual position in the radiator intake at the rear of the unit. The exhaust stack is covered, so I'm, guessing it's going back to GE for warranty repair.
