Title:
BM 2-8-4 #4019 "Cobra hooded" - Boston & Maine
Description:
Unfortunately this poor quality photo barely shows the unique Boston & Maine "cobra-hooded" Berkshire built by Lima in 1928. The interesting "cobra-hood" feature was actually the Coffin feedwater heater that circled the crown of the smoke box. Eventually this loco was sold to SP in 1945 and renumbered SP 3509. Specs - T-1a class, 63" drivers, 240 psi boiler pressure, 28x30" cylinders. No date, location or photographer was listed.
