Title:
L&N Crane 40024
Description:
The L&N's MOBILE WRECKER had just arrived in New Orleans to help rerail SP GP35's 6599 and 6669, along with L&N hopper car 184876. The derailed equipment had been on an L&N-SP run-through train, and the accident took place at the west (railroad south) end of the Franklin Avenue underpass. The crane was L&N 40024, a 200-ton Orton built in January 1968. It spent its entire life based in Mobile, and was retired by the CSX as SBD 740024 in October 1992. The equipment on the other side of the crane was boom car 41915, baggage car 41032, coach 42345, and GP30 1013.

Title:
SP Transfer Run
Description:
A trio of Southern Pacific GP35 units – 6669, 6611 and 6653 – were shoving a transfer run out of the SP/ICG interchange yard at the east end of the Huey P. Long Bridge and onto the New Orleans Public Belt westbound main track. Once the train had backed past East Bridge Tower, which can be seen on the other side of the second and third units, it will reverse direction and head to Espee’s AVONDALE YARD at the other end of the bridge.
