Here is page two of a two-page article entitled "Death Of A Locomotive: Steam Power Ends Its Passenger Service." It was published originally in the January-February 1958 issue of "Pennsy" magazine, page 17. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #5351, a K-4S (4-6-2) "Pacific" built in Juniata during March of 1924 and retired in April of 1958 after 34 years of service. The number of the Baldwin BP-20 diesel-electric locomotive depicted in the lower left-hand corner of the photo is not recorded.

Here is page eight of an 11-page article by Bert Pennypacker entitled "All About America's Largest Locomotive Fleet." It was published originally in the April 1964 issue of "Trains" magazine, page 45. Photo Caption: "From enginehouse to ready track moves K-4 replacement 5779, a 2000 h.p. Baldwin passenger cab unit assigned to New York & Long Branch and based at South Amboy, N.J., scene of this shot." Photo by Don Wood. Partially visible here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #5779, a BP-20 built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in October of 1948, rated at 2,000 horsepower, and retired in May of 1965 after just 17 years of service.

"Trains" Magazine, February 1979
Description:
Here is a photo taken by Mr. D.O. Jones. It was published originally in the February 1979 issue of "Trains" magazine, pages 42-43. Partial Caption: "In times past, diesels then commomplace but now revered in memory did the honors on the Long Branch. In June 1960 at Red Bank, we see . . . Pennsy BP-20-class passenger Shark 5779 on a race special for Monmouth Park." #5779 is a BP-20 built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in October of 1948, rated at 2,000 horsepower, and retired in May of 1965.
