Album Info:
These are part of a large collection of St Louis-San Francisco photos recently acquired and are examples of the early 4-6-2 Pacifics. These photos were small 2 1/2" x 4 1/4" in size.

Looking like it was freshly delivered from Baldwin, this 4-8-4 even has its whitewalls still spotless! Specs - serial #64437, class 4500, coall burner, 74" drivers, impressive 255 psi boiler pressure, 28x31" cylinders, engine weight of 474,040 lb, tractive effort of 71,188 lb. Here is another example of a Baldwin 4-8-4 Northern built for the Frisco as their #4511 in August of 1942. Specs - serial #64448, class 4500, coall burner, 74" drivers, impressive 255 psi boiler pressure, 28x31" cylinders, engine weight of 474,040 lb, tractive effort of 71,188 lb. Although the b&w photo doesn't show it, this beautiful 4-8-4 Northern built by Baldwin in August of 1942 had a blue & white color scheme with red lettering for the crack Meteor passenger service. Specs - serial #64438, class 4500, oil burner, 74" drivers, impressive 255 psi boiler pressure, 28x31" cylinders, engine weight of 474,040 lb, tractive effort of 71,188 lb.
