Album Info:The first part of my largest album on this site, it features all (that i was able to recover after multiple computer crashes) of my railroad photography in my home state for the first five years since I've had a digital camera. It has many mainline UP trains, Amtrak passenger trains, shortlines, and many remnants of the great Southern Pacific. This album continues into the next part "Oregon Railroading: Part 2 (2010-2014)". Description:  In 2007 catching a manifest with this kind of lash up was already a rare thing, after 2008 catching any of these at all in active duty would become increasingly rare as more GEVOs and SD70ACes began flooding UP's roster, while the C40-8s and SD60s were largely taken out of service and placed into storage in many of Union Pacific's larger facilities. The remaining locomotives in CNW paint were also slowly being repainted too, however UP 9771 has managed to avoid the paint booth at least into 2022, although it has been in storage for the last few of those years. Location is Meadowview Road.

Description:  On anything but the POTB this scene would be the deadline. This unit was the only ex-SP 4 axle unit on the roster, the 101 cow unit being the other 4 axle unit but from C&O. POTB 3771 was eventually scrapped after the closing of the line in 12/07 due to damage to the line.

Description:  It's new years day 2008, and besides the missing numberboards on many of the locomotives, Tillamook Yard looked like it had for many years; hoarded with first generation EMDs parked around a few old buildings, but freight operations didn't last passed 2007 after a heavy storm in December severed the line in two.

Description:  The wig-wags across America are falling. I was strolling around Tillamook whem my friend pointed out this, this used to guard the crossing in Timber, OR. Now theres only one remaining wig-wag on the POTB and thats in Banks. At the time of this pic, the line is shut down. EDIT: 6/14/11: I have been told the Banks wig wag is also down but has been preserved,
